Food Safety

NCS operates all its sites under AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 and CODEX HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines.

It is critical to NCS to ensure that all food service provided to our clients is both safe and wholesome. NCS seeks to pursue this through a number of key objectives which include but are not limited to:

  • Purchasing only from approved suppliers
  • Identifying and evaluating food safety risks using HACCP principles
  • Minimising food safety hazards and effectively controlling the risks
  • Complying with all relevant legislation and establishing standards of best practice
  • Setting standards, monitoring and auditing compliance with the standards and measuring improvement and appraising performance
  • Ensuring that responsibilities and accountabilities are clearly defined and effectively communicated to relevant staff
  • Taking effective action when there is non-compliance

In order to achieve these objectives, the duty to take reasonable precautions is delegated throughout the management structure and to all levels. NCS has a team of Food Safety Specialists (Food Technology Graduates ) who continually monitor, train and develop systems to further enhance our already robust Food Safety Management Systems across all our sites.

Leadership and Commitment

NCS management supports the food safety team and all staff with a range of measures designed to assist them in daily operations.

These measures include but are not limited to:

  • The provision of adequate ongoing training at all levels
  • The maintenance of an effective monitoring system
  • Ensuring the availability of adequate resources
  • Introducing new technologies as they are developed

Each one of these elements is critical to the strength and success of our entire NCS Food Safety & QA programs.

Food Safety Team Members

NCS is extremely proud of its growing team of OHS safety professionals recruited from both external and internal sources.

Our team of food safety specialists/trainers are all UPNG Food Technology graduates who have undergone further auditing and 'train the trainer' training since joining NCS. Their mission is to ensure that all NCS staff that handle food in any capacity have receievd food safety training, from basic to supervisory level and beyond, and to monitor and update food safety management plans for all NCS sites. This hands-on approach ensures that NCS continues to provide safe food to all of our clients.
